Pòro

Pòro is a visual project that aims to be a snapshot of the Italian language variants in 2018. Twenty majolica tiles represent each Italian region: linguistic subcategories will be shown through chromatic variations which give shape to patterns inspired by the regional style of majolica.

Metaphor used:

The majolica tile element has been taken into consideration as the subject of the project. It was carried out a visual research to identify and locate its decorative style in each of twenty Italian region. The aim to link it to the dialectal variant in the individual geographical areas.

Intended Meaning:

Each tile will represent the linguistic distribution of the individual region. By placing them next to each other, the audience will have the impression of having an overall view of the peninsula.
